Games arena

Five games on the same question bank as practice. They do not share rules · what a run pays, how it ends and what a wrong answer costs are on each card. Read them before you pick.

Blitz 60

Sixty seconds on one clock, and as many questions as you can take in that time.

  • ·A correct answer pays 10 points, plus 2 for each step of your combo to a maximum of five steps · 20 points at the ceiling.
  • ·A wrong answer takes nothing away. It puts the combo back to zero.
  • ·Nothing ends the run but the clock.

Survival

One life. Your score is the number of questions you got through before you slipped.

  • ·The first wrong answer ends the run there.
  • ·It then shows you the correct letter and the opening of that question's explanation, so the one that killed you is the one you learn.
  • ·No clock and no lifelines.

Road to 400

Fifteen rungs shaped like a JAMB score, from 40 up to 400.

  • ·Three lifelines, one use each: 50:50, a tutor whisper taken from the question's own explanation, and a single skip.
  • ·Milestones at rungs 5 and 10. Clear rung 5 and a later fall still leaves you 150; clear rung 10 and it leaves you 290.
  • ·Fall on rung 5 or below and you keep nothing.

Daily Ten

Ten questions, and every student on LockInPoint gets the same ten today.

  • ·The date is the ordering seed the database uses, so every student is served the same plate until it rolls over the next day.
  • ·Every pick shows you the right answer straight away. No clock, no lifelines.
  • ·One score out of ten, and a line you can copy to send to whoever you want to beat.

The Climb

Needs activation

One exam and one subject you choose, fifteen questions, 100 points up to 1,000,000.

  • ·You pick three of five lifelines before the first question: 50:50, Ask the Class, Ask Lumi, Switch, and Double Dip · which stays locked until you have cleared question 10, so the first question you can spend it on is 11.
  • ·One safety net is fixed after question 5 and you place the second one yourself. A wrong answer drops you to your net; walk away instead and you keep the rung you last cleared.
  • ·Classic has no clock. Against the clock gives 15 seconds early, 30 in the middle and 45 late, and banks every second you save onto the final question.

Before you pick one

What the door asks for, and what a score counts for

Four of them need a login · the Climb needs an activated account

Blitz, Survival, Road to 400 and Daily Ten deal you questions as soon as you are signed in. The Climb checks activation before it will even list your subjects, so an unactivated account is turned away at the door with “The Climb opens with activation.” Activate before you go in. It also only offers subjects holding enough four-option questions to fill all fifteen rungs, so a subject missing from that list is a thin bank rather than a fault. Practice and the CBT hall ask for activation in the same way.

Arcade bests live in this browser · they never reach the leaderboard

Your best Blitz, Survival, Road and Daily scores are written to this browser's own storage and nowhere else. Open LockInPoint on another phone and they are not there; clear your browsing data and they are gone. No game writes an attempt either, so nothing you do here shows up in your history or your performance analysis. Leaderboard points are added up from four things: 10 for every correct answer in a submitted sitting, 25 for every attempt you finish, 100 for each day of a streak that is still alive, and 5 each time you open LockInPoint after a gap of six hours or more. A streak you broke on Tuesday is worth nothing on Thursday. A 400 on the Road moves none of it.

The questions are the ordinary bank, drawn fresh each run

In Blitz, Survival, Road to 400 and Daily Ten the questions are drawn across the whole published bank, so any exam and any year can turn up in a plate. The Climb is the exception: it stays inside the one subject you chose. One check runs before a question reaches you: if its stored answer letter is not among the options it actually carries, it is dropped rather than served as a question you could not have got right.

For a mark rather than a score

Practice mode gives you the answer and the explanation after every question. CBT mode puts a clock on it and marks you at the end. The JAMB full mock is 180 questions, English plus your three subjects, on one two hour clock and scored over 400. All three are recorded against your account, and all three count on the board.
