How practice works on LockInPoint
The chooser above asks three things, in the same order every time · your examination, your subject, then how you want to practise. Nothing picks an examination on your behalf, and no bank is borrowed from another board.
Two modes, and what each does to marking
The mode decides one thing · when you are told whether you were right.
Practice mode
No clock. The moment you pick a letter it is marked and locked, and the full explanation opens under the question. Choose a single year in this mode and you sit that whole paper rather than a set number of questions.
Timed CBT
A clock you set at 15, 30, 45 or 60 minutes, and nothing is marked while you sit. When it reaches zero it submits for you. The corrections · your letter, the right letter and the explanation · come after you submit.
Both modes score the same way at the end · a percentage for an ordinary subject paper, and a mark over 400 for a JAMB mock.
Four places the questions come from
A source is chosen after the mode, and the two compose · a topic can be sat under the clock, and a year can be sat with the explanations open.
A year
One year's paper. Every year tile carries how many questions that year holds, and a year holding none is never listed.
A topic
One topic inside the subject, with its own count beside it. Topics are organised per examination, so JAMB Mathematics and WAEC Mathematics never share a list.
A random mix
Past questions drawn from across the whole subject rather than from one year or one topic.
Tutorial questions
Teaching questions written by a tutor, which never sat a past paper. They appear as a fourth tile only in subjects that have them, so a year paper can never quietly include one.
How many questions, and what happens when there are not enough
Every source except a single year in Practice mode asks for a size · 10, 20, 40 or 60. If the year or topic you picked holds fewer than ten questions, the chooser says so before you press start, and if it holds none at all it says that too. Nothing is padded out to reach the number you asked for.
Two sittings that are not a subject paper
The full JAMB mock
Choose JAMB and a second door opens above the subject list. Use of English is locked in at 60 questions, you pick three more subjects at 40 each, and all 180 sit on one two hour clock. The result comes back over 400, with each subject scaled to 100 so you can see which one cost you the aggregate.
Post UTME rooms
Choose Post UTME and step two asks for a university instead of a subject. Each room draws from that school’s own past questions rather than from the whole Post UTME pool, so the label on the paper and the questions in it always agree.
Inside the sitting
The same hall for both modes, with two differences · a timed paper runs a clock and holds the corrections until you submit, and one tool below is untimed-only.
Question map
Every question as a numbered square. Answered ones turn green, flagged ones amber, and tapping one jumps straight there.
Save and Mark for later
Save keeps a question in Saved questions after the sitting ends, with its answer and explanation behind Show answer. Mark for later only flags it inside this paper.
Calc and Listen
A calculator, and a Listen button that reads the question and every option aloud.
Ask Lumi · Practice mode only
In an untimed paper Lumi will take a question apart for you. A timed CBT does not offer it, the same way the hall would not.
Report
A question with a broken option or a wrong key goes to the tutors from inside the paper, without losing your place.
Keyboard shortcuts
A to H picks an option, N and P or the arrow keys move, F flags. No shortcut submits the paper · only the Submit button and the clock can do that.
You can leave in the middle
Your answers, your position and your flags are saved as you go, and flushed again when the tab closes or goes to the background · so a sitting you walked away from comes back on the Continue practice card on your dashboard instead of starting over. In a timed sitting the clock submits the paper for you when it runs out, and pressing submit while questions are still blank asks you to confirm first.
What it asks for
Choosing is open · sitting is not
Anyone can walk all three steps above and see exactly what is in the bank · every examination, every subject, every year with its real count. Pressing start is where it stops: the sitting asks you to log in, and then for an activated account, before the first question loads. Activation is one payment, once, and it opens every examination.
